What are MS workers’ comp death benefits?

In the event of death related to a workplace injury or work-related disease, Mississippi requires that policies pay benefits to the surviving spouse and qualifying dependents. 

Payments must be made to the spouse at least every 14 days for up to 450 weeks after the employee’s death. 

Policies must also include up to $5,000 for funeral expenses and a $1,000 lump sum to the employee’s surviving spouse.
